Water Heater FAQ's | Malfunctions - Installation - Repair - Warranty - Tank or Tankless - Best Brands

Why there is not hot water in my house?

  1. What to do?
  2. The very first thing to do is to find out if the problem lies with the plumbing or the water heater.
  3. Go and check all other plumbing fixtures in your home, such as bathtub, bathroom, lavatory or kitchen faucets.
  4. If all of them get hot water but only one does not, your problem lies with that particular fixture. For example, it might be a bad shower valve cartridge.
  5. If none of the faucets in your home are getting hot water, your water heater pilot light might have turned off, there might be disruption in fuel delivery, such as gas or electricity, or your water heater might have broken down.

What to do if my gas water heater is not working?

  1. First, make sure there is gas supply in your home by turning on a stove or a furnace for a couple of minutes.
  2. Once you have made sure there is a gas service to your home, locate the gas water heater and in case the pilot light has turned off, attempt to restart it by following the instructions listed on the tank or refer to the next FAQ below.
  3. If restarting the water heater does not work, you will need to call a professional water heater service or a plumber for repair.
  4. We offer water heater repair in Orange County, CA.

How to restart my gas water heater?

  1. Make sure the gas valve is open and allows gas flow into the water heater.
  2. Turn the On-Off-Pilot button to the Pilot position, push it inwards and hold it depressed until the end of this procedure.
  3. Start clicking repeatedly the Sparker Button for about a minute or if your water heater has a blinking indicator light until the light starts blinking(this has to be done while you hold the Pilot button down).
  4. Once the blinking light is on or you have completed step 3, release the pilot button and turn it to On position.
  5. Increase the Temperature Selector Dial to A, B, C or Very Hot and listen to the flame's ignition sound.
  6. If you hear it, your water heater is working again. You can also verify the successful re-lightning of your water heater by checking if the exhaust vent on top of the water heater is getting hot.
  7. If you were unable to relight it, most likely a part in your water heater has failed and it will need to be repaired or replaced.
  8. Contact us for help.

What to do if my water heater is leaking?

  1. Determine where the leak is coming from.
  2. If it is the water connectors on top of the water heater the unit might still be intact and replacing the leaking supply lines might save the day.
  3. If the leak appears to be internal and pouring out of the tank, your water heater might need to be replaced.
  4. The average lifespan for a water heater is 8 to 12 years.
  5. Once you know where the leak is coming from, you can turn off the water to the water heater to minimize the water damage.
  6. Locate the water shut-off valve on top of the water heater and turn the lever 1/4 turn or if it is a round handle, turn it clockwise until it locks.
  7. If you are unable to operate the water heater shut-off valve, you can do the same using the main water shut-off valve for the house. It is located in the garage near the garage door or in front of the house near the entry door.
  8. The next step is to set up an appointment with a plumber for the replacement of the leaky supply lines or the installation of a new water heater.
